| The Whispering - A Journey of Discovery |

| Todesengel walks away from the tavern. He misses the company of his friends during this time. He knows that it is almost time. The way he has been acting tells him that things are changing. His violent outburst and then moping around. He hurt some of his closest friends with his actions. He puts on a smile at times but there is an aching feeling in his heart. If it had not been for his dear friends he surely would have been lost. He turns and looks at the tavern. He had been pulled to this place long ago it seems now, but then again as only yesterday. When he first arrived, everyone was so friendly and inviting. The ladies the most beautiful he had ever seen. They are so pleasant and inviting. And they know how to give a man the pleasure he desires. The men have their stories and their talents. Some mighty warriors, some are gentlemen. Also there is good mixture of beings, a place where possible mortal enemies sat and talked and shared with each other. He knows he will have to leave these people for a short while, if not forever. He hears the laughter and music emanating from his new “home. He hears a whisper and a tugging. “Todes come. “Why now? he asks himself. He fights the whispers and the pulling. “Let me be! Finally the whispers dissipate, as he focuses on the tavern. As he turns back and walks down the lane, he stops to check on several of his friends, making sure they are safe. Satisfied that all is well he walks into the woods. There waiting for him is Gorean. They walk together in silence. As they near the clearing Todesengel hugs the mighty beast and offers some venison that he kept from supper for the cubs. Up ahead is his abode. How lonely and cold it can be, he thought. “Tomorrow will be better, he tells himself. Once again he hears the whisper. “Todes it’s time. Come.“ He tries to ignore the whisper, but deep down knows he will have to go. As he starts to drift off to sleep, he thinks of his friends and how blessed he is. A smile forms upon his face. Todesengel continued to fight the calling, especially after seeing her again. “What will happen if she comes back while I’m gone? He wondered. How he could tell her he would return, and then he remembered something as he walked with his hand in his pocket. When he withdrew his hand there is the sprig of rosemary she had dropped. He searched the garden for fresh rosemary. Finally having found some he took the ribbon he sometimes uses to pull his hair back and tied the rosemary to a tree limb in the area where she had been coming. Looking at the tavern, he went in and played for awhile. The whispers calling him have become much louder now. Allowing his soul to leave his body for a bit, he circled the tavern looking down at all of his friends and family. Slipping back into his body, he acted as though nothing is wrong. As he leaves, he speaks the same goodbye that he always does, but for those closest to him there is a marked difference. As he walks out the door, he looks straight ahead. His heart aches. Again he hears “Todes it is time. This time instead of fighting it he bows his head and silently says “Yes. I know. When he reaches his home, he goes inside and takes a black velvet bag filling it with some bottles of oil and a white candle. He knew that he could be there in several minutes if he wished, but that’s not what this was about. He walked like a man. Memories flooding him as he continued forward. He thought of people he had met in his travels. But his thoughts settled on one soul and how he had found her each time she came back. He was always drawn to her. She had taken many different forms throughout the centuries, each as lovely as the last. He continued his journey to the far ends of the earth. As he moved forward he began to remember Serea, the sorceress that raised him. Driven back to where they lived, he stopped and looked around his old home. His eyes grew heavy and he laid down to sleep. Visions of his life came to him as if it was all happening now. The Vampyress had come to his mother asking for assistance. He was out gathering wood when he heard her screams. Seeing his mother wounded, he attacked the Vamp. Her nails and teeth ripping him apart. Blood was everywhere as he felt the wetness under his ribcage, he knew he needed to end this now or she would kill them both. Where the strength and quickness came from he knew not. All that he saw was a terrible fear come over the vamp’s face. Suddenly she burst into flames. When he finally reached his mother, she looked at him and said “It’s time my son. Waking suddenly he looked around. Slowly realizing that had been a dream. And yet it was more so for this actually happened. He remembered her soul reaching out to him as he somehow flew with her to paradise. Many came to minister him, but others cursed him. “It’s not right for you to care about those weaklings. They hissed at him. “You are an angel. A much greater being than any other. Why did you want to be human? They are nothing. These thoughts going through his head as he became more fully alert. Rising from the ground and packing his bed, he was more determined now to go where he must. More memories flooding him with each step. Mindlessly wandering towards his sacred place. “It had been too long, he thought to himself. When he looked up, he could see his destination in the distance. He walked a little faster now that he had reached the wooded area below the large mountain. Out of nowhere he felt two strong beings grab him. Two of the fallen angels were trying to keep him from reaching his destination. As he struggled with them, the memories of being chained and beaten came back. He was not going to have this happen again. “I told you once before that you could never chain me for long and that I would never allow it again. Todesengel yelled as he fought them. It seemed as though they fought for hours. Each one expressing their power. As they were fighting, Todesengel’s medallion burst through his torn shirt. The ruby shining brightly, burning his attackers. When they saw what was tormenting them, they fled screaming about the goddess destroying them. He fell back and laid there for only a moment. As tired and sore as he was he knew he had to continue. Struggling to his feet, he pressed onward. |
